Late Writing
You mostly write late, dear self.
You can hardly write right
when you’re properly awake.
staying up until early morning…
writing stuff no one will ever read.
Reading things that you wrote
years ago, forgotten files
and papers and notebooks.
Looking at every picture
that you ever took.
You can hardly write right
when you’re properly awake.
staying up until early morning…
writing stuff no one will ever read.
Reading things that you wrote
years ago, forgotten files
and papers and notebooks.
Looking at every picture
that you ever took.
You used to spend whole days
photographing tea leaves
closeups, noticing the differences.
Or sitting in a tree, photographing
each individual leaf,
laying above the pathways
so you could say hi to people
who walked underneath
and startle them.
No one expects such
large squirrels in the trees.
If you go to bed instead of writing,
you’ll be more productive.
You always wish
you had gone to bed earlier,
come morning and light.
Ok, goodnight.

ReplyDeleteI like this a lot! I'm more of an early morning writer, and love my sleep, yet I still love this :D
